Baltic dry index drops as soft demand, vessel oversupply weigh on rates

The Baltic Exchange’s dry bulk index fell d-o-d by 26 points on 28 Oct’25 to 1,950. The index dropped across vessel segments amid weak cargo demand, vessel oversupply, and subdued chartering activity.

  • Capesize: The BCI decreased by 54 points to 2,784.
  • Panamax: The BPI fell by 17 points to 1,904.
  • Supramax: The BSI dropped by 11 points to 1,350.
