Bahrain: Iron Ore Imports Surge 68%; Pellets Exports Decline 34% in Oct’18

Bahrain iron ore imports in Oct’18 witnessed at 1.34 MnT, up 68% on monthly basis as against 0.8 MnT in last month. On yearly basis, imports increased 70% in Oct’18 as against 0.79 MnT in Oct’17.

For the duration Jan-Oct’18, total imports witnessed at 7.04 MnT, up 43% as against 4.93 MnT for same duration last year (Jan-Oct’17).

Iron ore Imports from Brazil increased sharply M-o-M

In Oct’18, Brazilian exports to Bahrain recorded at 0.67 MnT, up 40% M-o-M, followed by Canada at 0.5 MnT (up more than three folds M-o-M) and Chile at 0.17 MnT.

Bahrain pellet export dropped 34% in Oct’18

Bahrain pellet exports in Oct’18 recorded at 0.52 MnT, down 34% M-o-M as against 0.79 MnT in Sep’18. On yearly basis, exports depicted 24% fall as compared to 0.68 MnT in Oct’17.

India turns out to be the largest pellets importer from Bahrain in Oct’18

In Oct’18, India stood the largest importer of pellets from Bahrain at 0.16 MnT (up 33% M-o-M) followed by Oman at 0.13 MnT (up 86% on monthly basis). Pellet exports to Saudi Arabia and UAE depicted significant fall to 0.11 MnT (down 73% M-o-M) and 0.07 MnT (down 65%) respectively.
