Australia Iron Ore Export Shipments Decline Marginally in Nov’17- Provisional Data

Australia is the world’s largest iron ore exporter. According to the vessel line up data maintained with SteelMint, Australia’s iron ore export shipments declined by 1% M-o-M to 70.75 MnT in Nov’17 compared to 71.43 MnT in Oct’17.

Country-wise Australia iron ore export for Nov’17:

China continued to record highest imports from Australia in Nov’17 with 84% of total share. However, it showed a slight decrease of 0.4% M-o-M in imports and stood at 59.62 MnT in Nov’17 as against 59.88 MnT in Oct’17. Japan stood the second highest importer of Australian iron ore with 8% share in Nov’17, down 6% M-o-M to 5.65 MnT as against 5.99 MnT in Oct’17, followed by Korea (3.24 MnT) and Taiwan (1.47 MnT). Iron ore export shipments from Australia to India remained nil in Nov’17.

Port-wise Australia iron ore export for Nov’17:

Hedland was largest iron ore exporting port from Australia with 59% share in Nov’17 iron ore export shipments. Iron ore exports from Port Hedland were up 3% M-o-M to 41.61MnT in Nov’17 against 40.28 MnT iron ore in Oct’17 followed by Walcott with 23% share of iron ore export, down 5% M-o-M to 16.11MnT in Nov’17.

 China recorded highest share of exports from Australia during Jan-Nov’17 with 82.70% share to 630.02 MnT, followed by Japan with 67.08 MnT and Korea at 41.99 MnT.
