Australia: Coking coal production of BHP-Mitsubishi drops 16%, y-o-y, in Q4CY’21

The BHP-Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) coal mining company operating in Australia produced 6.3 mnt of coking coal in the Oct-Dec’21 quarter, down 16% on the year even as sales volumes for the same period stood at 6 mnt – down 19% y-o-y. Japan-based Mitsubishi Corp. has been developing its export business for coking coal in Australia through a joint venture with mining major BHP.
