Anthracite Coal Offers Up by USD 3/MT

Anthracite coal offers have gone up by around USD 3/MT on CFR India basis.

But, increment will be of no concern for Indian buyers as propensity for importing is very dull among them. Demand continues to be sluggish in the country.

According to a reputed importer, the latest offers stand at USD 93-95/MT, CFR India. Increment in offers is due to supply constraints in international markets.

As a matter of fact, predominance of cheaper alternate fuels, like Petcoke and other forms of coal has eroded demand for the high-priced Anthracite coal.

SteelMint Research shows that only two importers—Essar and JSW—had imported a total quantity of 69,500 MT in Feb’16. The respective quantities are 33, 000 MT and 36,500 MT, according to SteelMint Research.
