Anthracite Coal prices have fallen in international markets as prices of Coking Coal exhibited downward traversals.
Demand in the Indian market has continued to remain dull as user industries preferred alternate fuels. There has been almost no affinity for Anthracite Coal among the country’s user industries.
Import offers have gone down, following the downtrend depicted by Coking Coal prices. The latest import offer is assessed lower at USD 130/MT CFR India.

In an international round-up, the Ukrainian government has mandated reduction of Anthracite Coal consumption from 9.5 MnT to 6 MnT in 2017. This is a part of the initiative of that government to completely withdraw from using Anthracite Coal in a span of 2.5-3 years.
IMPORTS
Clearly, imports were very low due to the sluggish demand in the country. In Feb’17, only 84,000 MT was imported into India. The lone importer was Indian Metals and Ferro Alloys Limited.

During the Apr-Feb’17 period, 853,200 MT was imported into the country.In future, there is no likelihood of the imports to go up.
