Anthracite Coal offers have remained at high rates mainly due to the prevalence of shortage of Breeze Coke. As a matter of fact, prices of both the commodities are co-related as these could be used as substitutes.
According to the latest assessment, the international Anthracite Coal offers are at around USD 135/MT CFR India, almost steady at the week-ago rates.

In India, demand for the coal has remained sluggish as buyers’ preferred alternate fuels. There is also no prospect for the demand to improve in the country in the future.
Due to the prevalence of lackluster demand, imports of the coal have remained significantly low. During the 1-20Nov’17 period, only 42,130 MT of the coal was imported in India, data compiled by CoalMint Research shows. IMFA and Jindal Steel and Power were the major importers.
