The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is gearing up to carry out its threat of stopping heavy vehicles transporting Iron ore from Anantapur to ports on the Andhra coast, with the government not responding to its demand to halt both export and shipping of the mineral.

Party’s president N. Chandrababu Naidu is believed to have expressed concern that the State was not following the example of Karnataka where the Government has already imposed a ban.

As the government is reluctant, the mining industry continues to export Iron ore which is not only affecting the future of Iron ore requirements of the country but also damaging the roads from Anantapur to the coastal cities due to overloaded trucks running continuously.

The party’s committee on mining headed by K. Yerran Naidu on Thursday has submitted a report to the Chief Minister demanding a ban.
