Japan’s leading steel producer Tokyo Steel Manufacturing, has increased its buying prices for all grades of ferrous scrap delivered to all its works by Yen 2000/MT (USD 18/MT) effective from 10 Aug’17. The company is Japan’s largest producer of H-Beams.
The increase takes Tokyo Steel’s price for H2 grade material delivered to its Utsunomiya works in north of Tokyo to Yen 30,000/MT (USD 275/MT).
H2 delivered to its Tahara works in central Japan and to its Okayama works in western Japan now fetches Yen 30,000/MT and Yen 27,500/MT, while that delivered to its Kyushu works in Japan will now be priced at Yen 27,500/MT.

Japan’s monthly ferrous scrap export tender fetched bids higher by USD 33- Kanto Tetsugen has marked highest price hike since in Oct’14. In the tender concluded on 9 Aug the winning bid price averaged at Japanese Yen 31,606 FAS (USD 288) for the H2 grade ferrous scrap. The average bid is higher by Japanese Yen 3,571 (USD 33 /MT) M-o-M as the bids had concluded at Japanese Yen 28,035 in the last month tender of Jul’17.
