South Africa:Ferrous Scrap Exports Down 40% M-o-M in Jun’17

South Africa-one of the major exporters of ferrous scrap has witnessed a drop in its exports in Jun’17. South Africa exported 0.03 MnT ferrous scrap registering fall of 40 % M-o-M in Jun’17, as ferrous scrap exports were 0.05 MnT in May’17.

Similarly,on yearly premises the exports fell 25 % Y-o-Y as exports were 0.04 MnT in Jun ’16.

During the first half of CY17 (Jan-Jun’17), ferrous scrap exports from South Africa amounted to 0.26 MnT, stable against the exports during the same period in last year.

Majority of the scrap exports made from South Africa have been done through major ports like Durban, Cape Town, Pretoria and Johannesburg.

Pakistan continue to remain largest importer of South African ferrous scrap –

Pakistan has imported 0.11 MnT ferrous scrap from South Africa in H1-CY17, lifting highest 42.30 % share of total South African ferrous scrap exports during first half CY17.

Other major countries were as follows India at 0.09 MnT followed by South Korea at 0.02 MnT and Bangladesh at 0.01 MnT.
