Anthracite Coal imports into China in 2016 were 11.27% higher as compared with that in 2015. The higher imports were due to the rising consumption by the fertilizer sector.
According the data obtained from China Customs, imports of the coal type in 2016 were at around 26.44 MnT. The bulk of the imports was from North Korea. Interestingly, China has banned all coal imports from North Korea for 2017, as such imports of the coal from Russia will increase.

Likewise, imports of the coal into the country during Dec’16 also were up by 2.26% over the imports in the same month of the previous year.
