- Ferro chrome prices gain on active trades, auction support
- Manganese alloys prices show mixed trends amid cautious buying
Indian ferro alloys prices showed mixed trends in the week ended 17 October 2026.
Silico manganese prices went down by INR 1,425/t ($15/t) to INR 83,100-83,400/t ($868-871/t) across key regions, while export offers for 65-16 grades dropped by $21/t to $989/t FOB Vizag/Haldia.
Subdued downstream demand offset support from limited spot availability. Persistent energy cost pressure and weak finished steel demand have prompted steelmakers to defer fresh procurement and prioritise inventory management amid market uncertainty.
Ferro manganese prices inch down w-o-w
Ferro manganese prices edged down by INR 500/t ($8/t) w-o-w to INR 89,800/t ($938/t) exw Durgapur, while Raipur prices also dipped by INR 800/t ($8/t) to INR 89,800/t ($938/t).Prices declined as buyers remained reluctant to accept higher rates, limiting fresh enquiries and keeping trading activity subdued across key domestic markets.
Manganese ore prices remain flat w-o-w
Imported manganese ore prices remained unchanged w-o-w. Australian Mn46% was assessed at $5.38/dmtu, while Gabonese Mn44% stood at $5.02/dmtu, and South African Mn37% at $4.65/dmtu, unchanged w-o-w.
Ferro chrome prices edge up w-o-w
Ferro chrome prices inched up by INR 500/t ($5/t) to INR 120,000/t ($1,253/t). Regular trades in the market along with positive outcome at recent Vedanta-FACORs ferro chrome auction were the key drivers of price increase.
Additionally, Vedanta-Ferro Alloys Corporation Ltd (FACOR) will conduct its ferro chrome auction on 22 Oct’26. The auction will feature four lots of high-carbon (HC) ferro chrome, comprising two lots of material with Cr:57% min (10-150 mm), one lot of Cr:54% min (10-20 mm) and another lot of Cr:51% min (0-10 mm).
Moreover, Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) has scheduled its upcoming chrome ore auction for 22 October, with the offered quantity unchanged m-o-m at 100,000 t. Base prices have increased marginally by 1% (INR 100-402/t) m-o-m across grades, indicating a slight improvement in market sentiment amid firm ferro chrome prices and relatively better domestic buying interest.
Ferro silicon prices rise despite market cautiousness
Ferro silicon prices increased by INR 1,000/t ($10/t) w-o-w to INR 96,000/t ($1,002/t) in Guwahati, while Bhutan prices also gained by INR 1,700 ($18/t) at 95,700/t ($999/t). Prices remained supported amid tight supplies in the Northeastern region and firm offers in Bhutan.
Noble alloy prices show mixed market trends w-o-w
Indian ferro molybdenum prices were largely stable with slight rise by INR 17,000 ($177/t) w-o-w at INR 4,417,000/t ($46,113/t) ex-works. Prices held largely steady amid firm molybdenum oxide costs and supportive end-user demand.
India’s ferro titanium prices remained broadly stable at INR 370,000/t ($3,900/t) exw, rising slightly by INR 3,000/t ($32/t) w-o-w. Regular buying and balanced supply-demand conditions kept the market stable. A market participant told BigMint, Elevated freight rates are affecting titanium scrap imports, adding to procurement challenges without establishing a clear upward price trend.
Indian ferro vanadium (FeV 50%) prices rose w-o-w to INR 1,268,000/t ($13,238/t) on 14 October, as domestic sellers maintained firm offers amid changing international vanadium market dynamics. The price movement comes despite softer Chinese indicators, suggesting that domestic price formation may also be influenced by local availability, sellers’ replacement-cost expectations and the terms of spot negotiations.
IEX: Spot prices rise w-o-w
Electricity prices on the Indian Energy Exchange (IEX) averaged INR 7.82/unit during 11-17 October 2026, up from INR 7.78/unit in the previous week.
