India’s rice vessel line-up stood at 968,578 tonnes (t), with cargo scheduled across major loading ports including Kakinada, Kandla, Chennai, Kolkata, and Vizag. The shipments comprise bagged rice and 5% parboiled (PB) rice, with shipments handled by major exporters, including Olam Agri India Private Limited, Balaji Agro Industries, Moi Commodities India, Raviraj Rice Industries, Manek Rathi Agri Products Pvt. Ltd., Ananta Rice Products, Pacific International. Benin emerged as the largest listed destination in the current vessel programme.
Benin leads scheduled shipments; Iran ranks second among listed destinations
Benin accounted for the highest scheduled shipment volume at 183,265 t, with cargo scheduled from Kandla (26,200 t), Chennai (13,000 t) and Kakinada (144,065 t). The consignments comprise bagged rice and 5% PB and bagged rice.
Iran ranked second with 87,553 t of bagged rice scheduled from Kandla.
Further scheduled shipments include the following:
- Ivory Coast: 50,000 t of 5% PB rice from Kakinada
- Guinea: 44,000 t of 5% PB rice from Kakinada
- Mozambique: 37,332 t of bagged rice from Kandla
- Yemen: 31,740 t of bagged rice from Kandla
- Luanda: 17,500 t of bagged rice from Chennai
- Nigeria: 15,900 t of 5% PB rice from Kakinada
- Bangladesh: 5,000 t of bagged rice from Kolkata
‘Others’ category accounts for over 496,000 t of scheduled exports
Apart from the listed destinations, the ‘Others’ category represents the largest share of the vessel line-up, with 496,288 t scheduled for shipment through Vizag, Kakinada, and Kandla.
The cargo comprises 5% PB and bagged rice. The category accounts for more than half of the total scheduled vessel line-up, highlighting the broad distribution of Indian rice exports across multiple overseas markets.
Kakinada records highest scheduled cargo among major loading ports
Port-wise scheduling shows Kakinada continues to handle the largest listed cargo volume, with 253,965 t scheduled for Benin (144,065 t), Ivory Coast (50,000 t), Guinea (44,000 t) and Nigeria (15,900 t).
Kandla follows with 182,825 t, comprising shipments to Iran (87,553 t), Mozambique (37,332 t), Yemen (31,740 t) and Benin (26,200 t). Chennai has 30,500 t scheduled, including 13,000 t for Benin and 17,500 t for Luanda, while Kolkata is set to dispatch 5,000 t of bagged rice to Bangladesh.
Outlook
The latest vessel line-up indicates that African markets continue to drive India’s rice export programme, with Benin retaining its position as the largest listed destination, followed by steady shipments to Iran, Mozambique, Ivory Coast, Guinea, Nigeria, etc. The sizeable 496,288 t allocation under the ‘Others’ category also points to a diversified export pipeline across multiple overseas markets. With 968,578 t of rice scheduled for shipment through major ports led by Kakinada and Kandla, export activity is expected to remain active in the near term, supported by broad participation from leading Indian rice exporters.
