Indian Pellet Prices continue to remain weak; Buying remains low

Pellet prices in eastern India have declined by INR 50-150/MT W-o-W, on the backdrop of subdued demand from Sponge iron manufacturers.

Pellet prices in eastern India have declined by INR 50-150/MT W-o-W. Resumption of mining operations at banned mines might push Iron ore fines prices following which Pellet prices might also experience pressure.

On the other hand, demand from Sponge iron manufacturers continues to remain dull. P-DRI prices have fallen by INR 400/MT W-o-W in eastern India. Barbil Pellet prices for Fe 63% are at INR 5,200/MT (loaded into wagons). Buyers are looking for offers at INR 5,000/MT (loaded into wagons).

Talking about Central India, Pellet prices in Raipur are around INR 6,000-6,200/MT. With reduction in Iron ore prices by NMDC, Sponge manufacturers are seen preferring Iron ore over Pellets.
