Bangladesh: Thermal coal imports jump 80% m-o-m in Sep’22

Bangladesh’s thermal coal imports rose by a whopping 80% m-o-m to 789,565 t in Sep’22 with Indonesia being the only exporter, CoalMint data showed. Imports from another key supplier, South Africa, were nil due to elevated prices. A rise in domestic power demand and stable Indonesian coal prices were the factors behind the significant increase in imports, CoalMint understands.
