World crude steel output decreases 3% y-o-y in August: WSA

Crude steel output of the 64 countries tracked by the World Steel Association (WSA) dropped by 3% y-o-y to 150.6 mnt in Aug’22. However, production rose marginally by 1% as against 149.3 mnt in July.

  • China produced 83.9 mnt of crude steel, up marginally by 0.5% y-o-y.
  • India’s production increased by 1.2% y-o-y to 10.2 mnt.
  • Meanwhile, Japan’s output lowered by 7.4% y-o-y to 7.3 mnt.
