- Malaysia, a top importer of ferrous scrap, has lifted restrictions previously imposed on scrap purity levels after three interim extensions since Jul’21.
- The country will only import high-quality scrap from 10 Jan’22 after a notice appeared in the Federal Government Gazette.
- The minimum metal content of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap should henceforth be 94.75%, and must have a Certificate of Approval from the Ministry of International Trade and Industry.
