Crude steel production from 64 countries tracked by the World Steel Association (WSA) stood at 144.4 million tonnes (mn t) in Sep’21, declining 8.9% on the year.
Top producers:
1. China churned out 73.8 mn t, down 21% y-o-y.
2. Indian mills produced 9.5 mn t, 7% higher on the year.
3. Japan’s production surged 25.6%, y-o-y, to 8.1 mn t.
