China’s coking coal imports rose 21% month-on-month to 4.13 million tonnes (mn t) in Jun’21, as per latest customs data. Imports from non-Australian suppliers such as Canada, the US and Russia saw y-o-y growths by 137%, 178% and 93% respectively. This was on expected lines as Chinese import restrictions on Australian coals remain in place since Oct’20.
