Coal India Ltd (CIL) subsidiary Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) has planned to supply 100 mn t from the Talcher coalfields in FY ’22, as per latest reports. Chairman P.K. Sinha has informed that MCL has a coal production target of 163 mn t and dispatch target of 182 mn t for the current fiscal. MCL’s output was at 148.01 mn t during 2020-21, and the key CIL subsidiary intends to raise production to meet growing energy demand. In the current financial year, MCL has been able to liquidate 6 mn t of stocks. Stocks were around 23 mn t at the end of the last financial year.
