Integrated steelmaker Jindal Steel and Power Ltd (JSPL) reported 7% growth in steel sales to 1.058 mn t in Apr-May ’21 against 0.975 mn t in the year-ago period, the company’s BSE disclosure reveals.
- Total sales stood at 0.559 mn t in Apr, while May sales were at 0.499 mn t.
- Export sales in Apr and May were 21% and 36% respectively of overall monthly sales.
Slowdown in construction activities and logistical challenges led to decline in sales in May. However, JSPL resorted to exports in a major way – much like last year – to offset the slowdown in domestic demand.
