India’s Finish Long Steel Production Hit 4-Year High in Jan’19

As per recent data released by Joint Plant Committee(JPC), India’s Finish long steel production slightly moved up by 1% in Jan’19, which is highest ever since Feb’15, as per data retained by SteelMint from calendar year (CY) 2012.

As per data, India produced about 4.34 MnT Finish long steels in Jan’19, which is higher by about 1% as against 4.3 MnT in Dec’18.

In line with this, on Y-o-Y basis, the production has increased by 9.04% and registered at 4.34 MnT against 3.98 MnT in Jan’18.

India’s finish Long steel productions continuously increased from last couple of months and prior to Jan’19 the upward proportionate was more than 5% amid positive outlook for projected supply and running projects with rapid pace due to upcoming elections.

Company wise – SAIL (Steel Authority of India Limited) bags top producer among large mills and registered at 0.43 MnT (+5%) followed by RINL popularly known as Vizag Steel – 0.35 MnT (-3%), JSW Steel – 0.3 MnT (+3%), TATA Steel – 0.27 MnT (-10%) and Jindal Steel & Power Ltd – 0.16 MnT (+14%).

Further, the major proportionate of finish long steel production recorded by medium/small scale mills at 2.84 MnT (+1%), which contributes about 65.4%.
