India’s SAIL Cancels Export Tender for Concast Blooms – Sources

Steel Authority of India – a government of India company had floated export tender for 8,100 MT concast rectangular bloom from its Durgapur Steel plant. The tender put up for Prime Mild Steel Non-Alloy Concast blooms (160*210/230mm) offered from Durgapur Steel plant has following specifications – C-0.09-0.15%, Mn-0.25-0.6%, S-0.05% max, P-0.05% max and Si – 0.15-0.30%. 

The cargo will be shipped from Haldia port. The material shipping was scheduled on 31 Mar’18. The due date for bid submission was 16:00 hrs as per IST 16 Feb’18. 

According to market sources report to SteelMint, the company has cancelled the tender owing to comparatively lower bids received than expected.
 
Global billet market overview:
 

1. Domestic billet (125*125mm) prices in India are observed at INR 34,900-35,100/MT (ex-Mumbai).

2. Indian billet exporters remained less active amid increased realizations in domestic market. 

3. Last week billet export offers from CIS nations moved up by USD 10/MT W-o-W amid recent trades concluded with Turkish mills. Last offers assessed at USD 505-510/MT, FoB Black Sea.

4. Iran billet export offers move up last week. SteelMint’s assessment stands at around USD 490-495/MT, FoB Iran. Iran’s KSC has floated billet export tender for 30,000 MT for mid/end April shipment. The due date for bid submission is expiring today i.e. 19 Feb’18 till 18:00 hrs 

5. Amid Chinese Lunar New year holidays, Chinese billet exporters remained away from the markets.
