Chinese Finished Steel Exports Drop Sharply 31% Jan-Nov’17

Nation has slashed the finished steel export volumes by 31% Y-o-Y basis during Jan-Nov’17 amid higher profit margins along with bullish sentiments experienced in the domestic market.

China finished steel exports dropped significantly by 34% on yearly basis to 5.35 MnT in Nov’17 against 8.12 MnT in Nov’16.

However monthly basis, China’s steel exports increased by 7.4% in Nov’17 in contrast to 4.98 MnT in Oct’17.

In the tenure of eleven months (Jan-Nov) of CY17 China’s steel exports fell significantly by 31% and stood at 69.74 MnT, against 101.19 MnT in the similar time-frame of the previous year.

Strong domestic demand supported by higher prices along with bullish market sentiments has propelled the Chinese mills to focus majorly on domestic market.Meanwhile HRC prices in domestic market stood around RMB 4,220/MT in end of Nov’17.

Chinese steel imports surged 20% M-o-M in Nov’17-Chinese steel imports surged by 20%,M-o-M basis in Nov’17.Country has imported 1.14 MnT in Nov’17 which was recorded at 0.95 MnT in Oct’17.However on yearly basis the same went down by 3% against 1.11 MnT in Nov’16.

During the time-frame of Jan-Nov of CY17 nation’s finished steel imports remained largely stable at 12.1 MnT against 12.02 MnT in similar time span of previous year.
