Crude steel production for 64 countries followed by the World Steel Association (WSA) stood at 167.90 mn t in Jun ’21, up 11.6% as against 150.45 mn t in the corresponding period last year. However, steel output plunged by 4% on month compared to 174.40 mn t in May ’21.
Top producers:
1. China churned out 93.9 mn t of crude steel, up by 2% y-o-y
2. Indian mills produced 9.40 mn t, 21% higher on year
3. Japan’s crude steel production surged 44% y-o-y to 8.10 mn t.
