According to the recent provisional data released by World Steel Association (WSA), the total crude steel production of 66 steel manufacturing countries for Mar’17 has registered a growth of 5%, Y-o-Y basis and was recorded at 145 MnT in Mar’17 against 138 MnT in Mar’16.
On monthly basis, world crude steel production made the significant growth of 14% in Mar’17 against Feb’17. In Feb’17 world crude steel production was recorded at 127 MnT.

China crude steel output rises 18% M-o-M in Mar’17 – China’s crude steel output has increased by 2%,Y-o-Y basis to 72 MnT in Mar’17 against 70.7 MnT in Mar’16. On monthly basis, China’s crude steel production has made the hike of 18% in Mar’17 as compared to 61.2 MnT in Feb’17.

Japan crude steel production increases by 2% Y-o-Y in Mar’17 – In Mar’17 nation’s crude steel reported a rise of 2% Y-o-Y basis to 8.9 MnT against 8.73 MnT in Mar’16. On M-o-M basis, Japan’s crude steel production witnessed the growth of 7.2% in Mar’17 as compared to 8.3 MnT in Feb’17.
India’s crude steel production down 0.6% Y-o-Y in Mar’17 – India’s crude steel output has come down by 0.6 %,Y-o-Y basis from 8.32 MnT in Mar’16 to 8.27 MnT in Mar’17 However, on M-o-M basis, India’s crude steel output has moved up by 2% in Mar’17 against 8.11 MnT in Feb’17.

South Korea crude steel output inched up by 7% in Mar’17 – South Korea’s crude steel production was recorded at 6.1 MnT up by 7% in Mar’17 against 5.7 MnT in Mar’16. Thus country’s crude steel output has spiked by 11% on monthly basis in Mar’17 against 5.5MnT in Feb’17.
Crude steel production of other top steel producing countries in Mar’17 remained as follows – United States: 7 MnT, Russia: 6.19 MnT and Brazil: 2.85 MnT.
