World crude steel production drops over 5% y-o-y in Apr’22

Crude steel output of the 64 countries tracked by the World Steel Association (WSA) dropped by 5.1% y-o-y to 162.7 mnt in Apr’22. However, production rose 1% against 161 mnt in Mar’22.

• China produced 92.8 mnt, down 5.2% y-o-y.
• India produced 10.1 mnt, up 6.2% y-o-y.
• Japan’s production declined by 4.4%, y-o-y to 7.5 mnt.
