According to the recent provisional data released by World Steel Association (WSA),the total crude steel production of 66 steel manufacturing countries jumped by 6% in the tenure of first nine months (Jan-Sep) of CY17 to 1266.92 MnT which was at 1199.4 MnT in similar time frame of previous year.
On Y-o-Y basis world crude steel production rose by 6% to 141.43 MnT in Sep’17 in comparison to 133.4 MnT in Sep’16. Although on monthly basis it fell by 1.4% in Sep’17 against Aug’17.
On Q-o-Q basis (Jul-Sep) of CY17 world crude steel output registered the rise of 7% against the previous quarter and was recorded at 428.21MnT.

China’s crude steel output increases by 5.3% Y-o-Y basis in Sep’17-China’s crude steel output increased by 5.3% ,Y-o-Y to 71.83 MnT in Sep’17 against 68.17 MnT in Sep’16. On monthly basis,China’s crude steel production declined by 4% in Sep’17 as compared to 74.59 MnT in Aug’17.
From Jan-Sept’17 nation’s crude steel output surged by 6% to 638.73 MnT against similar time fame of previous year.
Japan’s crude steel production up by 2% Y-o-Y in Sep’17 – In Sep’17 nation’s crude steel moved up by 2%,Y-o-Y basis to 8.62 MnT against 8.45 MnT in Sep’16. However on M-o-M basis,Japan’s crude steel production fell by 1.2% compared to 8.73 MnT in Aug’17.
During Jan-Sep of CY17 nation’s crude steel output fell slightly by 0.2% to 78.3 MnT against similar time fame of previous year.
India’s crude steel output up by 2%Y-o-Y in Sep’17 – According to data released by World Steel Association,India’s crude steel output stood at 8.2 MnT,higher by 2% in Sep’17 against 8.04 MnT in Sep’16.However on monthly basis India’s crude steel output rose by 3.1% in Sep’17 in comparison with 8.47 MnT in Aug’17.
In first nine months of CY17 Indian crude steel output rose significantly by 6% to 75.29 MnT against similar time fame of previous year.
South Korea crude steel output 3% Y-o-Y basis in Sep’17-South Korea’s crude steel production was recorded at 5.88 MnT rises by 3%,Y-o-Y basis in Sep’17 against 5.72 MnT in Sep’16.On monthly basis,South Korea crude steel output rose drastically by 14% in Sep’17 against Aug’17.
So far in CY17 till Sep nation’s crude steel output increased by 4% to 52.82 against similar time fame of previous year.
However,crude steel production of other top steel producing countries during Jan-Sept’17 are as follows United States: 61.45 MnT (up 3% Y-o-Y), Russia: 54.2 MnT and Brazil: 25.47 MnT (up 9% Y-o-Y).
