World crude steel output drops 4% y-o-y in CY’22: WSA

Crude steel output of the 64 countries tracked by the World Steel Association (WSA) dropped by 4.3% y-o-y to 1,831.5 mnt in CY’22.

  • China’s output decreased 2.1% to 1,013 mnt.
  • India’s production rose by 5.5% to 124.7 mnt.
  • Japan’s output declined by 7.4% to 89.2 mnt.

In Dec’22, world crude steel output dropped by 10.8% y-o-y to 140.7 mnt. However, it rose marginally by 1.15% m-o-m as against 139.1 mnt in Nov’22.
