Why Billet producers in India cut down on prices this week  

  • Rolling mills produced at 60%-85% capacity on sponge iron and iron ore shortage  
  • Liquidity crisis, high input cost and low demand from automobile sector
  • Price reduction this week: Kandla Rs 1,100/MT, South Rs 500/MT, Chhattisgarh Rs 400/MT, Rourkela Rs 400/MT, Mandi Rs 300/MT, Jalna Rs 300/MT & Durgapur Rs 100/MT 
  • Offers might start rising slowly if bookings are placed in good quantities 
  • Officials at Hira Group & Adhunik Metaliks Ltd remarked, “We don't see an improvement in buying activities and prices the next week”
