What’s Happening in GP/GC Market?

The galvanised plain coils / sheets are value – added steel products which basically involves zinc coating, are tough, sturdy, light weight, bright and corrosion resistant. In India these are produced in the thickness range of 0.15 mm to 2.0 mm and width range of 800 mm to 1560 mm.

In FY 16, India’s total GP/GC production was recorded at 6.54 MnT. Whereas, in FY15 the same was recorded at 6.70 MnT.

Unlike HRC/CRC, India is a net exporter of GP/GC sheets. However, from the above table it can be observed that in FY16, India’s GP/GC imports increased by 34.09% whereas exports fell down by 12.88% against FY15.

Current Prices

Current offers for HDG (Hot dip galvanized) coil (0.8mm and above, IS 277) are assessed at INR 42,500-43,000/MT (ex-Mumbai) and INR 44,500/MT (ex-Delhi). Prices include excise of 12.5%.

Majority of India’s HDG exports are directed towards Middle east countries.Export offers of HDG from India are assessed at USD 600/MT, CFR UAE whereas offers from China are assessed at USD 540-550/MT, CFR UAE. China’s flat steel offers to South America is recorded at lower rate of USD 480-510/MT, CFR Columbia.
