Western India: Melting scrap prices increase further by INR 400/t ($5)

Domestic melting scrap prices moved up by INR 200-400/t d-o-d in most of the major consuming markets of western India. As per market participants, despite appropriate availability, rising substitute product (sponge iron) prices and adequate transactions in finished steel have pushed prices higher. Rising global scrap prices is also affecting domestic scrap prices.
