Jalna based re-rollers have booked a hefty volume of billets (about 3,000 t) from Raipur at INR 37,500/t exw, trade sources reported to SteelMint. The landed cost of this to Jalna, would be around INR 39,200-300/t. Meanwhile, local mills in Jalna are offering billets at INR 40,000/t DAP. Following the sharp surge in scrap prices globally, billet prices in major scrap consuming markets are continuously rising and are expected to remain high due to high input cost & supportive finished steel demand.
