Super Smelters-a leading sponge iron manufacturer in east India is likely to start the commercial production at its pellet plant.
Super Smelters has a pellet plant with an installed capacity of 0.6 MnT pa located in West Bengal. The plant will produce pellets of grade Fe 63.5+.
Company officials informed SteelMint that the trial run has been successfully accomplished and the commercial production will begin about in a month’s time.
The manufactured pellets will be used both for captive purpose at its DRI plant and will also be open for merchant sales.
Super Smelters has remained a major pellet buyer in FY16. The sponge iron manufacturer sourced nearly 0.16 MnT pellets from major Odisha based pellet makers in last fiscal. After the sponge iron manufacturer commissions its pellet plant, it will reduce pellet purchases from merchant market.
