Weekly round-up: Indian ferro alloys sees mixed performance across product segments

  • Manganese alloys market extends weekly gains
  • Ferro silicon prices reach 4-month trough

Silico manganese prices went up w-o-w on acceptance towards high offers

Indian silico manganese (60-14) prices increased by INR 875/t ($9/t) w-o-w to INR 76,100-77,000/t ($807-816/t) across key markets. Prices were supported by elevated production costs as major producers continued using high-cost manganese ore inventories acquired in April 2026, stronger export demand improved acceptance of higher offers, and an expected rise in power tariffs, which is set to further lift industrial energy costs.

Recent reports indicate that the Chhattisgarh State Electricity Regulatory Commission (CSERC) has approved a power tariff hike effective 1 July 2026, raising industrial energy charges by about 45 paise/unit.

Meanwhile, HC 65-16 silico manganese export prices rose by $5/t to $923/t FOB Vizag/Haldia.

Additionally, SMIORE’s 15 Jun’26 manganese ore auction recorded 17% bookings, with bids increasing by up to 11% compared to the 5 Jun’26 auction.

Ferro manganese prices rise w-o-w amid tight supply

Indian ferro manganese (70%) prices rose w-o-w by INR 600/t ($6/t) to INR 79,000/t ($825/t) in Raipur and by INR 700/t ($7/t) to INR 79,000/t ($825/t) in Durgapur. Prices increased as sellers resisted lower bids amid limited spot availability and firm production costs, prompting buyers to accept slightly higher transaction levels.

Meanwhile, export prices for the 75% grade also went up by $7/t w-o-w to $918/t FOB Vizag/Haldia.

Imported manganese ore prices slide w-o-w

Imported manganese ore prices declined w-o-w. Australian Mn46% was at $5.74/dmtu down by $0.05/dmtu w-o-w, Gabonese Mn44% prices stood at $5.49/dmtu, down by $0.01/dmtu, and South African Mn37% stood at $4.7/dmtu, down by $0.05/t w-o-w.

Ferro chrome prices edge up on regular trades w-o-w

India high-carbon ferro chrome (HC 60%, Si 4%) prices remained steady with a slight rise of INR 700/t ($7/t) w-o-w to INR 123,200/t ($1,306/t) ex-works Jajpur. Market witnessed a slight improvement in sentiment as limited domestic availability supported higher prices during the week. Key exporters had already pre-booked material for June shipments.

At OMC’s 19 Jun’26 chrome ore auction, 76,500 t was booked against 108,600 t offered. Bid prices increased by 1-4% m-o-m for most grades, while a few grades recorded declines of 1-2% m-o-m.

Ferro silicon prices continue to drop to 4-month low

India ferro silicon (Si 70%) prices fell by INR 600/t ($6/t) w-o-w to INR 94,500/t ($1,002/t) ex-works Guwahati, while Bhutan prices also fell by INR 1,700/t ($18/t) to INR 94,000/t ($996/t). Prices fell amid bid-offer disparities, which forced sellers to reduce offers.

Noble alloys prices reflect mixed trends w-o-w

India ferro molybdenum prices reamined largely stable with slight decline by INR 2,000/t ($21/t) w-o-w to INR 4,115,000/t ($43,600/t) ex-works. Limited deals of around 15 t in last week and weak stainless steel demand led to slight drop in the prices.

Indian ferro vanadium prices remained broadly stable in the week ended 17 June 2026, registering a slight w-o-w decline of INR 2,000/t ($21/t) to INR 1,398,000/t ($14,791/t) ex-works Raipur. Trading activity was muted as buyers showed resistance to elevated offers, while softer vanadium pentoxide prices and limited spot inquiries continued to weigh on market sentiment.

Indian ferro titanium (Ti: 30%) prices held steady week-on-week at INR 365,000/t ($3,865/t) exw-India, supported by stable demand and balanced market fundamentals. Tight spot availability of ferro titanium units enabled suppliers to sustain firm offers, keeping prices unchanged despite cautious purchasing activity.

IEX spot prices edge up w-o-w

Electricity prices on the Indian Energy Exchange (IEX) averaged INR 4.848/unit during 14-20 June 2026, up from INR 4.6/unit in the previous week.
