- Ferro chrome prices rise post OMC chrome ore auction
- Silico manganese prices climb amid lower spot deliveries
Indian ferro alloys prices witnessed mixed trends this week, with ferro chrome, silico manganese, and ferro vanadium rising.
Ferro silicon prices remain largely steady w-o-w amid market lull
Indian ferro silicon prices were largely steady with a slight dip of INR 400/tonne (t) ($5/t) w-o-w to INR 88,300/t ($996/t) exw-Guwahati. Meanwhile, Bhutanese offers also declined by INR 400/t ($5/t) to INR 88,000 ($992/t). Trading was largely quiet, as most sellers were out of the market.
Ferro chrome prices increase w-o-w following key auctions
Indian high-carbon ferro chrome (HC 60%, Si: 4%) prices increased by INR 900/t ($10/t) w-o-w to INR 118,700/t ($1,339/t) exw-Jajpur. The price hike was driven by elevated offers from sellers following higher bids in the Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) chrome ore auction.
Additionally, at the ferro chrome auction on 22 September, 1,650 t of the 3,300 t offered were sold, all from the larger lot (Cr: 60-64%, 10-100 mm) at the base price of INR 117,500/t ($1,325/t) exw.
Silico manganese prices rise w-o-w on tight supplies
Indian silico manganese prices (60-14) rose by INR 500/t ($7/t) w-o-w to INR 69,400-69,800/t ($783-787/t) in the key regions of Durgapur, Raipur, and Vizag, amid tightening supply conditions. Transportation challenges caused by monsoon-related disruptions in key regions further constrained supply, creating a supply-demand gap. However, this had a limited impact on the market, as demand remains muted.
Additionally, on 25 September 2025, SMIORE auctioned 31,248 t of manganese ore (20%-34% Mn, -10 to 100 mm). Moderate participation led to 11,088 t sold (35%), with 20,160 t unsold.
Moreover, export prices of the 65-16 grade dropped by $6/t w-o-w to $904/t FOB Vizag/Haldia, India.
Ferro manganese prices edge down w-o-w
Indian ferro manganese (HC 70%) prices continued to fall, by INR 200/t ($2/t) w-o-w to INR 70,200/t ($792/t) exw in Durgapur. Meanwhile, prices, exw-Raipur, also inched down by INR 200/t ($2/t) to INR 70,300/t ($793/t) w-o-w. Prices dipped as subdued demand persisted, while steady supply kept the market balanced but under pressure.
Additionally, HC 75% ferro manganese prices inched down by $1/t w-o-w to $885/t FOB Vizag/Haldia.
Imported manganese ore prices reflect mixed trends w-o-w
Prices of imported manganese ore (Mn 37-46%) showed contrasting trends w-o-w across grades. Mn44% from Gabon stood at $4.46/dry metric tonne unit (dmtu), edging up by $0.05/dmtu w-o-w; Mn37% from South Africa was assessed at $4.19/dmtu, down by $0.01/dmtu; and Mn46% from Australia was at $4.77/dmtu CIF India, inching up by $0.05/dmtu w-o-w.
Additionally, South32 increased its November 2025 manganese ore offers by $0.05/dmtu, citing stronger market sentiment. South African 37% ore rose to $4.15/dmtu and Australian 42% to $4.55/dmtu. Meanwhile, Eramet Comilog also raised Gabonese prices by $0.08/dmtu.
Ferro molybdenum prices ease w-o-w following decline in LME futures
Indian ferro molybdenum prices edged down by INR 10,000/t ($113/t) w-o-w to INR 3,074,000/t ($34,661/t) exw. This was primarily due to a drop in global and LME futures prices, along with fewer inquiries in the domestic market. On the London Metal Exchange (LME), molybdenum futures inched down by $0.33/lb w-o-w to $25.14/lb.
Ferro titanium prices dip w-o-w
Indian ferro titanium (Ti:70%, 10-50 mm) prices eased slightly by INR 11,000/t ($124/t) w-o-w to INR 319,000/t ($3,595/t) exw. The market remained steady, with limited price movements, and no notable change in sentiments was observed, reflecting a balanced supply-demand scenario.
Ferro vanadium prices rise on supply tightness
Ferro vanadium (FeV 50%) prices in India rose to INR 1,142,500/t ($12,878/t) ex-Raipur amid tight supply and strong demand. Shrinking inventories and delayed imports supported bullish sentiment, with prices likely to rise further in the near term.
IEX spot prices decline w-o-w
Electricity prices on the Indian Energy Exchange (IEX) stood at INR 3.5/unit during 21 to 26 September, down from INR 3.8/unit in the previous week.
