Vietnam Mill Books Bulk Scrap Cargo from US 

A Vietnamese steelmaker has booked a 30,000 MT of a bulk vessel carrying HMS 1&2 (80:20) from the Western Coast of the USA. As per sources, the deal has been concluded at around USD 305/MT CFR.

Another Vietnam based steel mill has booked a bulk cargo of shredded scrap at around USD 310/MT, CFR Vietnam from the USA, however, the quantity not be confirmed at the time of publishing this report.

Towards the beginning of this week, HK 50/50 from Hong Kong is being offered at around USD 285/MT CFR South Vietnam. Offers from USA for containerized HMS 1&2 (80:20) was reported in the range of USD 278-280/MT CFR Vietnam.

Vietnam ferrous scrap imports – The country has witnessed a sharp fall in ferrous scrap imports in Nov’19, as it imported 0.32 MnT scrap in the month, down by 29 % M-o-M as compared to 0.45 MnT scrap imported in Oct’19, as per the recent data released by the country’s customs department.   From Jan-Nov’19, Vietnam imported 4.74 MnT ferrous scrap, out of which major share was of Japan (41%) followed by the US with a 26% share. Other major sources were Australia, Hong Kong & the UK.
