Vietnam’s ferrous scrap imports totaled 368,068 t in Dec’23, marking a 3% m-o-m decline from 381,133 t in Nov’23, according to BigMint data.
Japan remains the top supplier at 211,547 t, followed by Hong Kong (35,724 t) and the US (23,619 t). However, on a y-o-y basis, imports surged by 90%, as compared to 193,470 t in Dec’22. The total scrap imported by Vietnam in CY’23 saw a 3% increase, reaching 3.78 mnt compared to 3.66 mnt in CY’22.
