Vietnam: Coal imports fall by over 25% m-o-m in Aug’22

Vietnam’s coal imports fell sharply by 26% m-o-m to 2.5 mnt in Aug’22 amid elevated global prices. Shipments from Australia declined by 50% amid rising high -CV coal demand in Japan while imports from Russia fell by 39% as shipments were majorly diverted to China and India. Coal imports from Indonesia and China, however, rose by 57% and 37% respectively.
