In a BSE filing the company has informed that the iron ore import and transit permits of Vedanta’s iron ore business in Goa have been reissued on 03 Aug’16.
Directorate of Mines & Geology (DMG) had issued cancellation order of iron ore import and transit permit on 28 Jul’16 to Vedanta amid violations in carrying lump to Goa it procured from Karnataka e-auctions. Following this the company had issued clarification on 01 Aug’16 that cancellation of iron ore import permit occurred due to change in old procedures.
However the permit reissued now states that the company is allowed to import iron ore for domestic self consumption for its pig iron plant in Goa.
