Sesa Mining Corporation – a subsidiary of Vedanta has revoked suspension at its Bicholim mines in Goa after a span of one month.
A month back on 13 Oct’16, the mining company had ordered a temporary closure of operations at the Bicholim mines. This was done in the interest of safety and security of all employees amid union agitation and activism.
As per company’s press release, Vedanta Sesa Goa – iron ore revoked the suspension order in the Bicholim mines with immediate effect. The management took the decision after employees appealed to resume work.
An official spokesperson for the company said. “We decided to revoke the suspension of operations after several requests were made from various quarters: employees, villagers, transporters and contractors etc. who are dependent on mining for their livelihood”.
