Value of Egypt’s flat steel exports rises 380% on year in Feb ’21

Egypt’s exports of flat steel products jumped noticeably in Feb ’21, according to latest government reports accessed by SteelMint. Value of flat steel exports amounted to $45.3 million in Feb ’21, while it was just $9.4 million in the same month last year- a phenomenal rise of $35.9 million or 380%. As per World Steel Association data, Africa- comprising Egypt, Libya and South Africa- produced 1.3 mn t of crude steel in Apr ’21. Total production in Jan-Apr ’21 stood at 5.2 mn t- an increase of 17% y-o-y.
