Amid rising demand for thermal coal among European and Asian buyers, the USA’s thermal coal exports rose 20% m-o-m to 2.4 mnt in Feb’22, customs data revealed. The rise in shipments came as supply from major destinations remained limited due to adverse weather conditions and elevated prices. Exports to Japan rose 65% m-o-m, while shipments to India fell by 13% m-o-m.
