United States ranks 4th in terms of top steel producing countries and recorded crude steel output of 78.45 MnT in CY16.
USA imported 4.64 MnT semi finished steel in CY16 compared to 5.23 MnT in previous year.
As per US customs data,semi finish imports which includes billets, bloom and slabs have reported the hike of 47% M-o-M basis to 0.66 MnT in Mar’17 as compared to 0.45 MnT in Feb’17.
On yearly basis, nation’s semi finish imports have surged by whopping 74% in Mar’17 against Mar’16. In Mar’16 the same stood at 0.38 MnT.
During Q1FY17 (Jan-Mar),nation’s semi finished imports have reported a spike of 91% to 1.45 MnT against 0.76 MnT in similar time-frame of previous year.
Country-Wise USA Semi Finish Steel Imports
Brazil was the highest exporter and has exported 2,85,798 MT in Mar’17 against 2,36,279 MT to USA.Besides this other countries were Russia ,Mexico followed by Japan and Canada.
