As per USA customs data, USA flat steel imports which includes (7208 – HR coils/Plates,7209 – CR coils, 7210, 7212 GP/GC and 7225 electrical sheets) have increased considerably by 23% ,Y-o-Y to 1.00 MnT in Nov’16 against Nov’15. In Nov’15 the same stood at 0.81MnT.
On monthly basis, nation’s flat steel imports remained stable since two months and stood at 1.00 MnT.
During the time span of Jan to Nov’2016, USA flat steel imports registered downfall of 16% to 10.79 MnT as compared to 12.81 MnT in similar time frame of previous year.
Grade wise USA Flat Steel Imports:
If grade-wise analysis is made, then 7209 imports have shoot up remarkably by 31% in Nov’16 against Oct’16 whereas 7225 down by 9% in Nov’16 against previous month. Although other flat steel grades imports like 7210 and 7208 declined in Nov’16 as compared to Oct’16. Grade 7212 remained stable in both the months.

Major Flat steel Exporters to USA in Nov’16
Canada was the major exporter of USA flat steel and has shipped 2,56,570 tonne in Nov’16 against 2,45,174 tonne in Oct’16.Other major countries include South Korea, Mexico followed by Vietnam and Netherlands.
