USA witnessed decline in monthly flat steel import volumes in Nov’17 basis and Canada remained the major exporter of USA and has exported 0.29 MnT in Nov’17.
USA has reported decline in monthly flat steel imported volumes by 11% in Nov’17. According to latest customs data, USA flat steel imports which includes (7208 HR coils/Plates,7209 CR coils, 7210, 7212 GP/GC and 7225 electrical sheets) has imported 0.91 MnT in Nov’17 in comparison to 1.02 MnT in Oct’17.
Similarly on yearly premises country’s flat steel import volumes decline by 11% in Nov’17 against 1.02 MnT in Nov’16.
In the tenure of eleven months of (Jan-Nov) of CY17 country’s flat steel imports assessed at 11.03 MnT moved up marginally by 1.3% which was 10.88 MnT in corresponding time frame of preceding year.
USA flat steel imported volumes witness decline ahead of implementation of import duty under Section 232 anti circumvention case which will restrict the imports from certain nations products and categories that harms the domestic steel industry.US Department of Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross has already submitted reports to his department’s and final results are still awaited.

Country-Wise USA Flat Steel Imports in Jan-Nov’17- Canada has exported 2.96 MnT of flat steel in during the time period of Jan-Nov’17.It has occupied the largest share of 27 % in USA flat steel imports in the eleven months of CY17.
Other countries include South Korea which occupied share of 9.46 % Mexico with 6.86%, followed by Turkey at 6.26% and Taiwan at 6.19% share respectively .
However on monthly basis Canada exported 0.29 MnT of flat steel to USA in Nov’17 which remained unaltered against previous month.In Nov’17 other flat steel exporting countries includes South Korea at 0.06 MnT ,Mexico 0.07 MnT ,Turkey 0.05 MnT and Taiwan at 0.04 MnT.
