United States ranks 4th in terms of top steel producing countries and recorded crude steel output of 78.45 MnT in CY16. The nation has benefited from soaring steel demand in the automobile and construction sectors. According to US customs data, nation’s flat steel exports which includes (7208 – HR coils/Plates, 7209 – CR coils, 7210, 7212 GP/GC and 7225 electrical sheets) registered a significant growth of 17% M-o-M to 0.48 MnT in Mar’17 against 0.41 MnT in Feb’17.
However,on yearly basis, USA flat steel exports increased by 26% in Mar’17 as compared to previous year. In Mar’16 the flat steel exports stood at 0.38 MnT.
Grade wise Flat Steel Exports of USA
As per grade-wise analysis, 7208 exports surged by 22.15% M-o-M in Mar17 against Feb’17. Exports of grades with HS codes 7209,7210 and 7225 have also witnessed the growth in Mar’17 against previous month.However grade 7212 move downwards in Mar’17.

Country-Wise USA Flat Steel Exports in Mar’17
In Mar’17 Mexico stood as the major buyer of USA flat steel and procured 2,42,261 MT of flat steel individually against 2,04,231 MT in Feb’17.Other major buyers of flat steel from USA in Mar’17 include Canada and Belgium.
