In June 2024, U.S. copper scrap exports fell by 19.44% m-o-m to 68,228 t from 84,714 t in May. In H1 2024, U.S. copper scrap exports rose 13.47% y-o-y to 476,043 t from 419,526 t in H1 2023. The average 3M LME copper prices fell from $10,241/t in May to $9,795/t in June, a $446/t drop. This price drop in June led to decreased exports due to higher prices in May.
