USA: Coal production rises by 10%, y-o-y, in CY’21

Coal production in the USA rose by 9.7% in CY’21 to 536.7 mn t, data from the US Energy Ministry showed. The rise in output came amid a sharp surge in coal demand last year as Asian countries, led by China and India, increased their imports from the USA. US coking coal shipments to China and thermal coal exports to India were the highest in CY’21, followed by the Netherlands and Japan.
