USA Coal Export Up by 14% in Aug’16

USA’s monthly coal export rise by 14% in Aug’16 compared to last month. While, witnessed a yearly fall of 13% during the month, compared to Aug’15.

USA, world’s fourth largest coal exporter, shipped about 7.7 MMst coal in Aug’16 with a significant growth of 14% compared to last month. Country’s coal export noted a fall of 13% compared to Aug’15.

Out of the total monthly exported quantity, more than 90% coal comprises Bituminous and Pet coke and rest are Anthracite, Coke and other grades.

USA coal export in 2016
In the first eight month of the year, the country exported 60.7 MMst coal with a fall of 16%, which was 72.2 MMst in the same consecutive period last year.

India imported the largest coal quantity during the month, followed by Brazil and Japan as the 2nd and 3rd largest importers in Aug’16.

India is one of the largest buyers of US grade coal took about 0.8 MMst coal in Aug’16; down by 29% compared to last month. While, yearly import rose by more than 41%, which was at 0.59 MMst in Aug’15.

Brazil, the second-largest coal importer during the month, imported about 0.7 MMst coal in Aug’16, with a growth fall of 19%, compared to 0.6 MMst in Jul’16. The nation’s yearly import also rose by 19% from Jul’15.

Japan, the third-largest importer of USA coal in Aug’16, imported about 0.7 MMst coal during the month. The country’s import rose by 10% in Aug’16. While, import moved down by 27% Y-o-Y.
